Fear

I have been so busy all week, writing my talks for a retreat at my parish this weekend. I will be witnessing about being an incest survivor. That always brings up stuff.
Interesting enough, my second talk will be on fear and how God carries us through our fears. I realize that I have lived my whole life in fear.
But 1 John 4:18 says - "Perfect love drives out fear." The perfect love of God has helped me deal with the fears.
How else could I stand up and talk about all of this?

I can definitely relate to living my whole life in fear. Today is better because I know that if I stand and face my fears that they go away or at the very least become manageable with my faith in God and in myself.

Patricia, that is so great! That is what I spoke about - giving our fears to the Lord and knowing we are not alone. Thanks!

I'm glad you had a good vacation and I hope your talks at the retreat went well. Good for you for standing up and speaking out! I love it!

Speaking of speaking out, we have a blog carnival deadline on Wednesday. Dan Hays is hosting. Have anything to submit?

You stand up and voice, your witness, you face the fear. Well, fear is an innnate emotion in the first palce and I am grateful it preserves my life. Yet the unhelathy kind of fearcan be overcome - each with by our means and ways. Hugs to you

Just listened to your message on the mp3 player. It was such a blessing Colleen. What a testimony you have. May the Lord continue to use you to reach other hurting people.
