Video on Narcissism

I saw this video today and wanted to share it with you all. A lot of what Fr. Martin says makes sense. In fact I recognized my father in his description of the narcissist.

So glad to see someone taking the victims side. Everytime I see that leering Sandusky on the news I change the channel.

Fai, thanks for your comment. I feel the same way. Sandusky gives me the creeps.

Fr. Martin is so credible and refreshing. I had tiny pinch of anger going reflecting on the World Over Live's repetition of how "majority of cases were not little boys, but young men . . ." and how number of cases in other denominations is higher, etc. Fr. Martin goes the other way he clearly states from the outset the number of cases was thousands in our Church, and it is not equivalent to Penn State scandal. The little blurbs from Sandusky complaining that he can't even play with his dog outside really exemplify what he was saying at the end. My Mom is bipolar and when she is manic she is both narcissistic and grandiose. The example of someone not caring if they bumped into you because it is all about them, while simple example, really clarifies the disorder. My Dad had been injured at work---10 heavy doors falling on his shoulder. He was in bed injured and my Mom rather than take care of him was pounding on his sore shoulder and then went to a restaurant to get herself some food. How much more I need to pray knowing this, for the victims of today, and the survivors? So unjust to have someone with Pied Piper charm that gets the trust of other adults, and parents that hurts the innocent and powerless without any registered remorse. Thank God there are a priests like Fr. Martin speaking out and not letting our Church return to the days of half-attempts to reform, or have an predator seek forgiveness, burying evidence and reassigning the predator to hurt others elsewhere. Please Lord, raise up others and keep this from happening again. Thank you that you do bring good from even this evil. Thank you that people like Colleen and JBR make people like me more aware so that we can be voices too, and God willing, help someone from being further abused today.

I thought exactly the same thing about Sandusky's comment when I heard about it! It is all about him and his suffering! Give me a break. He is lucky to be able to be home.
My father is the same way.
Thank you for sharing about your mother.
I agree with your comments on Fr. Martin too. How refreshing not to hear excuses. Thanks for your support and understanding! God bless!

This is such a great video! I would love to learn more about Fr. Martin and see more of him on video. I have dealt with a few people in my life who are/were narcissists and so this sounds so familiar! Thanks for your post!

Monica, Fr Martin is really down to earth and I love his books. He has written a few.
I felt good about this video too because it helped explain my father and others' reactions to him. I will need to write it about it here i think.
