Survivors Tell Their Stories

Survivors showed courage.
Survivors told their story.
People listened.
People believed.
And the perpetrator of the abuse will go to jail, probably for the rest of his life. He will face consequences for what he has done.
And the survivors will hopefully heal.
Because the world has just become a better place.
And people listened.

Thank you to the survivors who told their stories in front of the whole world.
I am grateful.
And I am proud of you.

Colleen, I just finished reading articles on two US Olympians that were sexually abused. The boxer was abused by her father, as was her older sister. The judo athlete was abused by her judo coach. The judo athlete indicated the Penn State scandal angered her and let her to speak out. I thought that was similar to how the thoughtless comments around the sexual abuse scandal in the church led you to speak out. Here are the links in case you haven't read them yet: Judo: http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetorch/2012/07/26/157433586/in-kayla-harrison-u-s-has-chance-for-judo-gold-and-a-comeback-kid-story Boxer: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/12/sports/quanitta-underwood-a-contender-for-olympic-gold-and-a-survivor.html?pagewanted=all
